P-EBT is one of the only federal pandemic benefits that's available to non-citizen / not work-authorized families, so Hawaii Appleseed has been working to make sure those households are aware of it. Using P-EBT will NOT affect their immigration status and a social security number is NOT required.
If a student is getting free or reduced-price school lunch during the school year, they are eligible for this extra assistance to buy food -- up to $360 per child. Any household with children in kindergarten through grade 12, who was eligible for free or reduced-price lunch at school, is eligible for P-EBT.
