HIDOE Public School Enrollment Instructions

1. Student Enrollment Form and the Supplemental Kindergarten Enrollment Form for students entering Kindergarten.

2. Home Language Survey

The Language List may be used to assist with completing the HLS.

Translated documents in your preferred language are also available at the bottom of this HIDOE website link.

3. Valid photo ID of parent/guardian.

4. Proof of Residency: Utility bill, lease agreement, or other official documents showing your current address

5. Birth Certificate: For age verification. Student passport or student visa is acceptable for foreign students.

*Families in Unstable Housing: Families experiencing unstable housing are covered by enrollment guidelines provided in the McKinney-Vento Act. Please contact a community liaison in your area.

6. Complete enrollment application and turn in forms either:

In-person: Visit your designated school to complete the enrollment process.
Online: If your child is new to the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) or transferring* to a different HIDOE school, you may submit an online registration application to begin the enrollment process. The registration window for the new school year opens annually on Feb. 1.
